Founded in 1994 by Gail Hurn, the fitness outreach ministry initially took root at Richland Bible Church in Richland, MI, now known as Gracespring Church. What began as STEP aerobics classes and a childcare program soon flourished, attracting a diverse community, including young mothers like Angie Foster-Goodrich. Inspired by her experience, Angie transitioned from participant to instructor, solidifying her commitment to the ministry and the church.
In 1999, when Gail departed, Angie felt a calling to continue the ministry's legacy. Over the years, she diversified the fitness offerings, catering to the evolving needs of the participants. Then, in 2020, fueled by a shared vision, Angie's friends and fellow fitness enthusiasts, Megan Haan and Colleen Valkema, joined forces to establish MAC Fitness. Their aim was clear: to expand the ministry's reach across multiple locations, offering an array of classes to foster outreach, connection, and wellness.
As founders of MAC Fitness, Angie, Megan, and Colleen, along with fitness professional Julie Holley, have propelled the ministry forward. With the addition of Northeastern Baptist Church as a new location and Julie's expertise, MAC Fitness has extended its impact. Together, they've created a supportive and inclusive environment, guiding individuals at every stage of their fitness journey.
Originally rooted at Richland Bible Church, now Gracespring, the fitness ministry has grown into MAC Fitness, a beacon of health and community in the Kalamazoo region.
The mission of MAC Fitness is to share the love of Jesus and the benefits of physical fitness through high-quality exercise classes at affordable rates.
